“Taking Action in Conservation,” a farmer-focused event, will be held on Jan. 23 in Cedar Rapids.

The Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) is sponsoring the event designed to not only help farmers successfully implement conservation on their acres but also share some challenges that come with conservation practices.

“We hope to show growers the agronomic benefits of conservation and cost-share opportunities with Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) staff onsite and other conservation opportunities available to them, such as carbon programs through Truterra, Farmers for Soil Health, and more,” says ISA Conservation Agronomist, Evan Brehm adding there will be time to assist growers with enrollment on the spot.

Presenters for the event will include Linn Coop Assistant General Manager Matt Becker; Mary Beth Stevenson, City of Cedar Rapids Watersheds & Source Water Program Manager; Dan Voss, 2023 Iowa Conservation Farmer of the Year and Kevin Bodensteiner with Verdesian Life Sciences.

“I want growers to come to not only get information but to leave with a plan of action to implement conservation on their acres,” says Brehm.

Taking Action in Conservation will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. The program will run from 9 a.m. to noon, with lunch at the Kirkwood Hotel Events Center, 7725 Kirkwood Blvd in Cedar Rapids.

To RSVP for the event, call Linn Coop at 319-531-7001.
