Anja Manuel and Seneca Wallace

Nationally-renowned keynotes announced

January 12, 2023 | Kriss Nelson

Global insights and creating a game plan for success will be the premise behind the messages by two well-known keynote speakers, Anja Manuel and Seneca Wallace, at the Iowa Soybean Association’s (ISA) upcoming Innovation to Profit Conference.

Anja Manuel

As a former diplomat, Anja Manuel will provide insight into agriculture’s critical role in the global environment and why you should factor these considerations into your farm’s game plan for success.

Manuel is co-founder and partner with former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, former National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley and former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates in Rice, Hadley, Gates and Manuel LLC. This strategic consulting firm helps U.S. companies navigate international markets.

“Anja is highly regarded in terms of having her finger on the pulse of the global economy,” says Aaron Putze, APR, senior director of information and education at ISA. “As you think of a game plan for your farming operation into 2023 and beyond, she will present a global view of the present and future as it relates to soybean demand and issues impacting the fortunes of Iowa and U.S. soybean farmers.”

Seneca Wallace

From becoming one of the greatest players to ever don the cardinal and gold at Iowa State University to a 10-year playing career in the NFL and now a successful business owner, Seneca Wallace will share his experiences and why it’s important to develop a game plan for success for your farm.

“Along with some entertainment, there will be some unique insights from someone who has played athletics at the highest level, who is a businessman and franchise owner,” says Putze. “It is always beneficial to glean insights and approaches from people who have developed plans and made them work. Someone that has taken risks. Farmers take risks, and Seneca has taken risks.”

Wallace currently lives in the Dallas Fort Worth area with his wife, Abbie and three children. Abbie grew up in Webster County, where her family runs the family farm and an auto repair and tire service shop in Gowrie.

“The opportunity to speak to the farming community hits home for me,” says Wallace. “My wife is from Iowa, and my father-in-law and brother-in-law farm. Through that and my experience as a student-athlete at Iowa State, I’ve seen firsthand the critical role that Iowa farmers play in feeding, fueling and clothing a growing world. Whether you’re an athlete, coach, business owner, or farmer, it’s important to have a game plan for success.”
