Innovation to Profit Summer Field Day - Farm to River

Overview

Join us for a field day that showcases how conservation can fit into a farm’s unproductive acres, focusing on conservation solutions to wetlands, marginal ground and in-field challenges.

Additionally, hear an in-season agronomic update from District 4’s Research Agronomist, covering diseases, pests, fungicide trials, and more! Stay after lunch for an optional tour of oxbows, saturated buffers,and woodchip bioreactors.

9 a.m. - Registration

9:30 a.m. - Welcome

9:40 a.m. - Wetland and Native Prairie Walk

Brandon Iddings, Sr. Conservation Services Manager

Explore the native grasses and forbs of the floodplain prairie and discuss the benefits of converting marginal ground into conservation/habitat. We will also discuss the benefits of a wetland and how landowners go about determining if they have a suitable spot.    

10:30 a.m. - Soil and Water Quality: Conservation Solutions

Joe Wuebker, Conservation Agronomists

Discuss opportunities to get involved with soil and water quality projects in field and on the field edge. Discussion focused on no-till, cover crops, saturated buffers, and bioreactors. 

11 a.m. - Seasonal Crop Update

Mikaela Connelly, Research Agronomist

Receive an update on recent agronomic findings in District 4, such as diseases and pests. Also hear ISA’s fungicide trial results from the past couple of growing seasons as you prepare to make that operational decision.  

11:20 a.m. - ISA Policy and Demand Update

11:30 a.m. - Lunch and Discussion

Noon - Thank You and Optional Off-Site Tours
