The State of Soy: African Swine Fever (S1:E5)

May 8, 2019

With soybean prices at 10-year lows, the last thing farmers need is a ding on demand. Yet that’s exactly what’s occurring with an outbreak of African Swine Fever in China. Yet there’s also positive news including growth in livestock and poultry production and processing in Iowa and the Midwest — more specifically, a new pork harvesting facility near Belmond and expanded poultry production and processing in western Iowa and eastern Nebraska. This episode features ISA President Lindsay Greiner of Keota, Coalition to Support Iowa's Farmers Executive Director Brian Waddingham and National Pork Board Senior VP of Science and Technology Dr. David Pyburn.
