Meet all the 2021 Recipients

Shannon Latham of Sheffield is recipient of the Iowa Soybean Association’s Advocate for Iowa Agriculture Award.

Sponsored by Bayer Crop Sciences and presented virtually to Latham today, the award recognizes an individual, organization or company who effectively and accurately tells the story of modern agriculture and actively builds bridges between Iowa farmers and consumers.

Latham’s dedication to promoting all-things Iowa agriculture is seen through her creation of “Enchanted Acres,” a learning farm located near Sheffield. Latham created the must-see family attraction for those wanting to learn more about farming and experience life in the countryside hands-on.

“I’m honored to be recognized for advocating for agriculture,” said Latham, “especially when I think of all the great advocates there are in this state who do a great job telling the story of agriculture.”

An ardent supporter of the Iowa Food & Family Project, Latham frequently hosts the initiative’s consumer audiences at both Enchanted Acres and Latham Hi-Tech Seeds for tours and ag-centric presentations. She also serves as an Iowa Food & Family Project advisory member and is always at the ready to volunteer, create or provide leadership in support of ag-outreach efforts.

“Agricultural advocacy is a true passion of mine,” said Latham. “My gift is the ability to tell other people’s story and fortunately, people let me.”

Never one to turn down an opportunity to promote Iowa agriculture, Latham welcomes every topic and question, drawing upon her first-hand knowledge of agriculture and technology.
