Coalition to Support Iowa's Farmers assists livestock producers impacted by historic Derecho

June 30, 2021

When the sun rose August 10, 2020, nobody anticipated an historic storm unlike anything Iowans had ever seen. Inland hurricane-force winds destroyed not only cropland and grain bins, but tree lines critical to the health of livestock. However, a coalition started in 2004 answered the call when Iowa's livestock producers needed help. The Coalition to Support Iowa's Farmers (CSIF) is assisting Rod and Missy Bice of Woodward in reestablishing a vegetative buffer strip on their grain and livestock farm. Farmers needing a helping hand with the installation of vegetative buffers or the siting of new livestock facilities can contact the Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers at 1-800-932-2436.
