Iowa Nitrogen Initiative Project Leader Melissa Miller, ISA Research Agronomist Alex Schaffer, and Hardin county farmer Brent Friest talk nitrogen application variables. Through the Iowa Nitrogen Initiative, farmers can find sustainable nitrogen rates that promote growth while limiting leaching and runoff. Using the data collected through trials, the Iowa Nitrogen Initiative can create better recommendations for the future.
