President, District 8
Randy Miller farms near Lacona in Warren County, Iowa and serves on as President of the Iowa Soybean Association’s (ISA) Board of Directors. Miller grows soybeans, corn, and produces custom-feed nursery pigs in addition to running a cow-calf operation. He farms with his wife, Sheila, and their two children.
Farming for nearly 30 years, Miller and his family implement cover crops on their land to promote soil health. They also use reduced tillage, terraces, waterways and began nitrogen modeling in 2014. In addition to promoting soil and water health, Miller feels passionate about sharing farming stories with the consumer and advocating for the agriculture industry to those removed from the farm.
Throughout his leadership at ISA, Miller has valued the behind-the-scenes legislative opportunities that allowed him to engage with political leaders about issues important to his farm. Having traveled to several countries, Miller also values the connections he’s seen be made in exporting soybeans to various trading partners. He believes that at the end of the day, selling soybean products to the world is no different than selling seed to a neighbor — relationships matter.
Miller is also a board member of the Warren County Fair Board, Indianola First Assembly Church and past member of the South-Central Co-Op Board and County 4-H Youth Council Leader.
