Helping farmers navigate the challenging economic terrain of today’s agricultural landscape will be the focus on the 3rd Annual Ames Ag Summit presented by VisionBank with support from the Iowa Soybean Association (ISA).

The seminar featuring respected risk management consultants and market analysts will be held Friday, Dec. 8, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Renewable Energy Group (REG) in Ames.

Ashley Arrington, co-founder of Agri-Authority, will keynote the event. Arrington serves as an agricultural analyst and risk management consultant and will focus on trends in ag financing, land values, cash rent and commodity prices. She’ll also forecast market prices and offer insights on variable rate technology and power zone management, the writing of a new farm bill and global ag economic conditions.

Additional featured speakers include Kyle Hansen of Hertz Farm Management, Steve Knuth of Ag West Commodities and Todd Farver of Agri-Trend.  A global agricultural trend outlook panel discussion featuring representatives of ISA and the Iowa Corn Growers Association will conclude the day.

“The event will offer extremely valuable and timely information as farmers prepare for another year of tight margins,” said Tanner Winterhof, VisionBank vice president, commercial banker and Ag Summit co-founder. “It’s critical farmers have the best information available to help them maintain a financially strong farm while being prepared to take advantage of opportunities to grow their operations successfully.”

VisionBank and Gateway Insurance Services began the Ames Ag Summit for their customers and neighbors to fill a need for a local meeting focusing on increasing and securing farm profitability. The event is independently organized, combining locally and nationally recognized presenters sharing various techniques and tools to maintain or increase whole farm profitability.

Farm operators and agricultural professionals of all experience levels will access the latest trends and projections in an unbiased outlet for information related to increasing the profitability of their organization.

“Support of the summit is an example of ISA’s commitment to improving the competitiveness of Iowa’s soybean industry to the benefit of soybean farmers,” said Aaron Putze, ISA director of communications and external relations. “Farmers attending the summit will gain a heightened level of confidence in managing a profitable farm by obtaining new information or techniques related to increasing yields and marketing their crops to obtain the greatest value.”

Farmers can attend at no cost but advance registration is requested as seating is limited. To register or for more information, visit www.amesagsummit.com.
