Iowa’s ISA and ASA Directors
“STORM” the Hill

Directors from the Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) headed to our nation’s capitol – Washington D.C. – on July 11-13. They spent the first two days in American Soybean Association (ASA) board meetings and elections. And day three was spent “storming” the Hill, sending Iowa’s soybean growers’ message to our state senators. Topics Iowa’s ISA and ASA directors covered with our senators included an extension on the biodiesel tax incentive, the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), the upcoming Farm Bill, installing new locks and dams on the Upper Mississippi River and funding for soybean rust research and rust prevention.

Iowa’s ISA and ASA directors on this trip included Dan Beenken of Bancroft, Denny Friest of Radcliffe, Ray Gaesser of Corning, Ron Heck of Perry, John Hoffman, ASA’s new vice-president, of Waterloo, Glen Jannsen of Arlington and Curt Sindergard of Rolfe, Iowa.
