Folks will have a chance to inspect machinery and to see the fields. Both VanDiest and Jim Larson will be available to discuss the benefits and problems with strip till farming.
Van Diest is an active participant in the Iowa Soybean Association’s (ISA’s) Environmental Programs, including the Boone River Watershed Project. Strip tillage is just one of several conservation methods he incorporates on his farm.
For additional information about the tour, contact your local NRCS or ISU Extension office or ISA.
