ED ULCH RE-ELECTED TREASURER OF NATIONAL BIODIESEL BOARD

URBANDALE, Iowa - Ed Ulch, a director for the Iowa Soybean Association from Solon, Iowa, has been re-elected treasurer of the National Biodiesel Board. Ulch was elected on Wednesday, Nov. 14, during the National Biodiesel Board annual meetings in Washington, D.C.

Ulch represents the Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) on the National Biodiesel Board (NBB). He has served on NBB’s governing board for four years and was a director for the Iowa Soybean Promotion Board from 2000-2005, serving as treasurer in 2003. He has been an ISA director since 2005. Ulch has also served on the boards of other organizations, including the Agribusiness Association of Iowa.

“I’m gratified that the NBB membership has placed their confidence in me and I am certainly honored to be re-elected as treasurer. Now we need to direct our attention to the challenges the biodiesel industry has ahead,” says Ulch. He and his family farm near Solon, Iowa, where they no-till all their crops, including low-linoleic, seed and commercial soybeans.

NBB is the national trade association representing the biodiesel industry as the coordinating body for research and development in the United States. It was founded in 1992 by state soybean commodity groups, including ISA. Since that time, the NBB has developed into a comprehensive industry association, which coordinates and interacts with a broad range of cooperators including industry, government, and academia. NBB’s membership is comprised of state,
national and international feedstock organizations, biodiesel suppliers, fuel marketers and distributors and technology providers.

The Iowa Soybean Association develops policies and programs that help farmers expand profit opportunities while promoting environmentally sensitive production using the soybean checkoff and other resources. The Association is governed by an elected volunteer board of 21 farmers.
