IOWA FARMER JOHN HOFFMAN ELECTED FIRST VICE PRESIDENT
OF AMERICAN SOYBEAN ASSOCIATION

URBANDALE, Iowa - Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) District Director, John Hoffman, has recently been elected as American Soybean Association (ASA) First Vice President at the ASA summer Board of Directors meeting last week in Washington, D.C. This puts Hoffman in line to serve as ASA President next year.

“It is a distinct honor and privilege to be elected as ASA First Vice President,” says Hoffman. “I look forward to working with the 23 state associations that make up ASA.”

“As far as legislation and policy, I am committed to continue work on extending the biodiesel tax credit,” continues Hoffman, “and I am very excited about the timing of my leadership because I will be able to work extensively on the new farm bill.”

Hoffman currently serves as ISA District 3 Director and served as ISA President from September 2001 until February 2003. He will continue to serve at the state level while serving his terms as ASA First Vice President and ASA President. Hoffman and his wife, Diane, farm 1,400 acres of soybeans and corn near Waterloo, where they are fifth generation farmers; their farm has been in the family since 1855.

The Iowa Soybean Association develops policies and programs that help farmers expand profit opportunities while promoting environmentally sensitive production using the soybean checkoff and other resources. The Association is governed by an elected volunteer board of 21 farmers.
