URBANDALE,
Iowa - The Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) has entered
the Winner’s Circle at the Iowa Speedway. ISA will sponsor
the new Iowa Speedway’s inaugural race, the Soy Biodiesel
250, in Newton on September 15.
“Given our country’s need to reduce dependence on
foreign oil, we see our sponsorship of the Soy Biodiesel 250 as
a great opportunity to promote the use of biodiesel, a renewable
fuel grown by Iowa’s farmers,” says John Askew, president
of the ISA board of directors.
“Soy biodiesel represents a clean, renewable fuel source
for the engines that move Iowa’s trucking, construction,
farming industries, and river, train, public and private transportation.
The Iowa Speedway brings together a broad cross section of Iowans
who are involved in these industries. We’re very proud to
sponsor the inaugural race,” says Askew.
Last year Iowa produced the most soybeans of any state in the
nation. Iowa is also a leader in biodiesel production, ranking
fourth in the nation last year. With the recent plant openings
in Wall Lake and Iowa Falls, Iowa is expected to soon rank number
one in biodiesel production. Iowa’s soy biodiesel production
capacity is on track to increase ten-fold over the next few years
to more than 300 million gallons per year.
Soy biodiesel, ISA, and the Iowa Speedway are partnering to build
Iowa’s economy and to make Iowa energy independent. Join
