IOWA SOYBEAN ASSOCIATION’S FEBRUARY TRAVEL TO TREASURE SCHEDULE

URBANDALE, Iowa - The Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) invites you to attend its February Travel to Treasure Events. There are four events taking place in February, covering many components of the soybean industry.

On Feb. 6, come take part in a Soy Candles and Food Workshop, which will be held in the Gold Fair Building in Red Oak, Iowa, from noon to 1 p.m. Learn more about soy candles and recipes using soy foods. Each attendee will leave with a gift bag. This workshop is free of charge.

On Feb. 13, take a Soy Foods Tour at the Chambers Family Farm in Corwith, Iowa, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. This event is also free of charge. Attendees will see how a home-grown and operated facility makes roasted soy nuts.

A Biodiesel Fuel Management Seminar will be held on Feb. 27 at the New Alliance FS in Columbus City, Iowa, from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Learn the best management practices for handling, storing and blending biodiesel. Topics to be discussed are as follows: general information on biodiesel, biodiesel in 2007 engines, microbial contamination, materials compatibility, OEM stance in biodiesel, ASTM update, BQ-9000 certification, ultra low sulfur diesel and cold weather issues. There is no charge to attend this seminar.

Also on Feb. 27, attend the Animal Agriculture and Renewable Energy Tour and Discussion at the Iowa Beef Industry Headquarters in Ames, Iowa, from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Tour the National Animal Disease Center in Ames and learn about the research being carried out to solve animal health and food safety problems faced by livestock producers and the public. Hear from industry professionals about the changes occurring within the livestock sector plus discuss the impact of Iowa’s renewable energy industry on the future of livestock in Iowa. Also tour the Biomass Energy Conversion Center in Nevada, Iowa; a focal point for developing value-added products from Iowa’s abundant biomass resources.
