Evaluation & Revision
As watershed plans are implemented, ISA EPS staff can work with public and private partners engaged in the watershed to conduct periodic or ongoing evaluations of water quality (through water monitoring and surveys of aquatic insects), stream conditions, soil quality (as a component of resource plan implementation and revision with local farmers), and overall plan implementation: Is the plan being fully implemented as intended? Does interest in or effectiveness of a particular solution require moving more resources into that aspect of the plan? Are there obstacles to implementation that need to be addressed by the stakeholders, such as a need for more education or information through field days or media attention, a variance of a state or federal regulation required to implement a promising solution, application for additional resources, or a revision of the plan to provide an alternative approach that would avert the obstacles?
In order to be truly effective in achieving improvements in water quality and watershed health over time and to achieve any other locally identified resource priorities, the watershed plan must provide for such ongoing evaluation and periodic revision of the plan based on feedback from the data collected in the evaluation process.
