Funding Development

The farmer directors and staff of Iowa Soybean Association know that their commitment to understanding the environmental impacts of agriculture in complex local landscapes and then finding, implementing, evaluating and disseminating solutions involves long-term, significant investments of funding resources. Beginning with their Iowa soybean checkoff investment of over $3,000,000, as of FY11, ISA EPS staff have leveraged over $9,000,000 in grants, both public and private, Congressional appropriations, and contracts for service to various partner organizations.

ISA EPS brings that funding development experience to the table with partners — from private non-profit conservation and ag organizations to Soil and Water Conservation Districts, state and federal agencies, local watershed organizations and multi-stakeholder coalitions — to help seek and secure resources needed to get the work done. Private philanthropies, corporate foundations and state and federal policy makers and program directors can be assured that their contributions to such efforts will be used effectively to achieve performance by the fact that Iowa farmers have heavily invested their resources there, as well. ISA members having "skin in the game" motivates their active involvement and makes them diligent in assuring that their projects and services advance working solutions.

Over $15,000,000 in additional public and private funding has come into Iowa to help advance agriculture's environmental performance and improve local and downstream resources as a result of these collaborative project and resource development efforts.
