Agronomic Tip of the Week: ISA and ISU Publish Updated Soybean Field Guide
ISA and ISU have released a collaborative publication, the Soybean Field Guide, which is an update of the popular Soybean Disease and Pest Management Field Guide. The durable, weather-resistant publication, which has been expanded from 52 to 68 pages, enables easy identification of problem yield robbers and provides valuable production information.

Members Encouraged to Contact Legislators, Urge them to Pass HF589

HF589, the Agriculture Protection bill, is one of the policy bills still in play at the Iowa Statehouse. Members are urged to call or email state senators, asking them to support House File 589 to protect animals, crops and personal property from those trying to hurt the industry.

Coast Guard Closes Part of
Mississippi River
The Coast Guard closed the swollen Mississippi River north of New Orleans on Tuesday to reduce pressure from rising floodwaters. If the channel remains closed, it could bring traffic to a standstill up and down the mighty river, which moves about 500 million tons of cargo each year.

Iowa Farm Mom Selected as
Regional Winner
April Hemmes, Hampton, Iowa, has been selected as Midwest regional winner of Monsanto’s America’s Farmers Mom of the Year contest publicized in recent eGolds. One of five regional winners, Hemmes was selected in recognition of the contributions she makes to her family, farm community and the agricultural industry. Online voters have until May 26 to vote for the national winner.
