The meeting will focus on energy conservation and marketing. The event will begin at 5:45 p.m. with dinner provided. Heath Ellison, program manager for Certified Environmental Management Systems for Agriculture (CEMSA) will present, “Strategies for Improving Energy Efficiency in the Field.” He will talk about the work done through the CEMSA program to test an energy planning and auditing process on 50 Iowa farms. DTN Senior Grains Analyst Darin Newsom, who is a popular guest on the “Market to Market” television program, will give a presentation titled “Unprecedented Times – the Changing Dynamics of Ag Commodities.” The event is free of charge. All in a Day’s Work: March 11 in Newton – Join ISA for an educational event, All in a Day’s Work: Unloading Your Beans, the Beginning of the Road, starting at the DMACC Convention Center in Newton on Tuesday, March 11. The day-long event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and run until 4 p.m. and includes lunch. The program will feature a number of industry experts. Alan Brugler, marketing analyst, will talk about commodity prices. Mike Steenhoek of the Soy Transportation Coalition will discuss the state of the grain transportation system. Robert Morgan, intermodal field manager for Iowa Interstate Railroad, will discuss the transportation challenges facing the railroad industry along with how corn and soybeans are shipped and transported using their services. Participants will visit Supreme Soy, Newton Iowa Interstate Railroad Intermodel Shipping Yard and Central Iowa Energy. Ge will then join Iowa Biodiesel Board Director Randy Olson, ISA Director of Market Development Grant Kimberley and Decker Trucking Fuel Manager Steve Lursen for a panel discussion.
