Agronomic tip of the week: Be on the lookout for white mold

While this season is progressing much more quickly than last year, one thing remains the same — lots of rain. Last year's cool, wet weather led to the first major outbreak of white mold in almost a decade. While this year has been warmer, there is still a risk of white mold developing.

ISA team leaves on China trade mission

A group of ISA representatives left today for a 10-day trade mission to China. Besides visiting with customers and potential customers there, the team will travel to the soybean-producing areas of China. Members can stay tuned as the team reports what they learn as they travel.

Worst Russian drought in 50 years threatens next crop

Russia's worst drought in at least 50 years, which has already driven wheat prices to the biggest jump since 1973, shows no signs of easing and now threatens sowing plans for winter grains, the national weather center said.

You can help! ISA volunteers needed for Farm Progress Show

The Farm Progress Show is quickly approaching, and ISA is looking for farmer volunteers to help in the ISA tent. In return for volunteering to do a three-hour shift, you will receive a pass for free admission the day you are working, a meal voucher for that day and a t-shirt to wear during your shift.

Farmers attend on-farm fish and wildlife habitat workshop

During a July 27 ISA workshop at the Smeltzer Trust-Iowa Learning Farm near Otho, farmers and other participants learned conservation strategies for working farms, in addition to meeting local specialists who can help with the process.

Northey invites Iowans to visit Farmville at the Iowa State Fair

Iowa Ag Secretary Northey has extended an invitation to Iowans attending the Iowa State Fair to visit "Farmville" in the Agriculture Building. This new display is a joint effort between the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and six agriculture commodity groups, including ISA. "Farmville" will showcase the important role of agriculture in Iowa.

District 3 Advisory Council promotes the American farmer during RAGBRAI

Last week during RAGBRAI, the District 3 Advisory Council put up a series of signs along the RAGBRAI route that promoted the American farmer to passing bicyclists and motorists.
