ASA C.A.B. campaign: Call About Biodiesel
Since the biodiesel tax incentive expired on Dec. 31, biodiesel consumption has dramatically declined, facilities have closed, workers have lost their jobs, and surplus soybean oil stocks continue to increase. The American Soybean Association urges members to call senators and represent-atives, stressing that the biodiesel tax incentive extension must be enacted.

Deadline for 2010 ACRE enrollment
is June 1
Producers have until June 1 to enroll in the Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) program for this year. Once enrolled, a farm stays in the program through the 2012 crop year. Consumers would lose if egg farmers were forced to change
Iowa's egg farmers have come under attack lately by out-of-state interests who say egg farmers should be forced into specific production systems. Kevin Vinchattle, CEO of the Iowa Poultry Association/Iowa Egg Council, responded in a guest editorial in The Des Moines Register.

Biotech crops go before Supreme Court this week
The U.S. Supreme Court is considering genetically engineered crops for the first time, in a case that has divided conventional and organic farmers. The biotech industry and organizations representing conventional farmers argue that the case could stifle the development of biotech crop varieties.
