ISA leaders on Japanese trade mission
ISA President Delbert Christensen, President-Elect Randy VanKooten and CEO Kirk Leeds are among those joining U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Vilsack and Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Northey on a mission to Japan to promote trade and commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Yamanashi “hog lift.” Leeds gives daily updates about the trip on his blog.

AGP plans expansion at the
Port of Grays Harbor
Ag Processing Inc (AGP) announced on Tuesday that the company will be undertaking a multimillion dollar expansion project at its Port of Grays Harbor facility in Aberdeen, Washington. According to AGP’s president, the expanded facility will provide additional market destinations for soybeans.

STC co-sponsors trip to

The Soy Transportation Coalition (STC) was recently a co-sponsor of Top Producer magazine's 2010 "Frontier Tour" to Panama and Brazil. One of the primary focuses of the trip was to highlight the role of transportation to the profitability of the soybean industry.

REG announces layoffs due to lapsed biodiesel tax credit
On March 31, Renewable Energy Group (REG) announced the layoff of 22 employees of the firm’s biodiesel plants at Ralston and Newton. “The failure of Congress to pass the Biodiesel Blenders Tax Credit continues to negatively impact the entire biodiesel industry,” REG President Daniel Oh said in a memo to REG personnel.

IPTV to air "Food Inc."
On April 21, Iowa Public Television will televise "Food Inc.," a documentary that demonizes the U.S. food system and large-scale modern agriculture. ISA joins Farm Bureau and other partners in the Coalition to Support Iowa Farmers in encouraging a strategic and proactive response.
