VanKooten and Kemp Witness Iowa Soy Boost to Central American Diets
ISA leaders Randy VanKooten and Brian Kemp recently saw how Iowa soy is marketed by companies throughout Central America as a result of efforts by ASA’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) program and how the World Soy Foundation’s humanitarian work is reducing malnutrition. Brock and Robin Hansen Named 2011 ASA/DuPont Young Leaders
Brock and Robin Hansen of Baxter recently represented Iowa in the ASA/DuPont Young Leader Program, involving producer participants from 22 other states and Canada. The program targets soybean farmers who are innovative, assertive, “young in leadership” and looking to make their mark in agriculture. Direct Payments, Insurance Targeted in GOP Ag Budget
Federal farm spending could be cut by $30 billion over the next decade under a plan by House Republicans to slash deficits. The DM Register reports, "With crop prices - and deficits - hitting new highs, it is time to adjust support...," according to the plan released by the House Budget Committee..

Iowa FFA Chapters Participate in 2011 Challenge
Iowa FFA Chapters are among seven states participating in the 2011 FFA Chapter Challenge. Chapter members are encouraged to go out into their communities, meet farmers, learn about their operations and establish a connection with FFA. Members ask the farmers they connect with to vote for their chapter. The FFA chapters that get the most votes by May 1 will be awarded valuable prizes.
