ISA's Public Affairs Department mission is to aggressively advocate for Iowa soybean producers in Iowa and in Washington, D.C. From January until May, ISA personnel and farmer-leaders conduct lobbying activities and have a daily presence at the Iowa Statehouse in Des Moines. For every day the state legislature is in session, ISA monitors and develops policy and law benefitting Iowa soybean producers. Throughout the course of the year, ISA also lobbies the U.S. Congress on policy and law affecting Iowa soybean producers. ISA Board of Director members travel each year in March for meetings with all Iowa U.S. Senators and Representatives. In addition, ISA staff members make multiple visits to Washington each year to ensure ISA federal priorities are achieved.
